Contemporary designs are characterized by the presence of contrasts, bold uses of color, and geometric or free-form elements. Select from our collection of contemporary rugs to enhance this interior design style. There are many abstract designs and bold patterns in our line that will pair beautifully with sleek contemporary furnishings. The design shown here is Tasanee, which means beautiful view, and it truly lives up to its name. With the painterly use of color, this hand knotted beauty is a work of art for your floor. Created by skilled artisans of wool and viscose, this versatile collection is a perfect complement to any room. Go to the contemporary collection to see all of these selections.

Traditional is a timeless style taking cues from the18th and 19th centuries, incorporating classic motifs and rich colors that create a warm inviting space and a sense of luxury. The rug example shown above in evergreen is our new introduction from the Azari collection. Azari is a nine-rug collection that is hand-tufted in India of 100% wool. Inspired by vintage Persian designs, this traditional collection includes two patterns—Isfahan and Keshan—in a range of rich colors and fresh accents.  Colorways include celadon, gray, dark sapphire, copper, evergreen, pewter, ink, oxford tan and terra cotta. Azari embraces the rich  traditions of the past and carries them forward to fit with today's more relaxed lifestyles and living spaces.

Transitional design is blending traditional and modern elements, creating a relaxed and balanced feel. Simply put, this style is a transition from traditional design to modern design. This design style is fresh and easy to accomplish in your home. Distressing techniques shown in the Makrana hand knotted rug example above, are on trend with this style and will elevate your living space. Timeless with a twist, our favorite style!

Mid Century Modern is a design style that is still going very strong today. Elements in this style include clean lines, muted tones, a combination of natural and manmade materials, graphic shapes, vibrant colors, and integrating indoor and outdoor motifs. Area rugs from many of our collections lend themselves to this style, even the braids that are usually thought of as farmhouse or country work perfectly in MCM design. The addition of textural rug to a space with smooth finishes creates visual interest, adds warmth, and offers sound reduction.

Coastal design is characterized by the reflection of natural seaside elements—surf, sand, and sky. Simple designs and motifs create a relaxed vibe. Light, airy, and blissfully serene, coastal style is all about evoking the same sense of peace, balance, and levity you feel when you’re at the beach or near a body of water. We have multiple rugs in various constructions that fit within this style. Our woven or outdoor rugs, sisal, and braided collections are excellent sources for this type of interior or exterior space.

Thank you for reading to learn about these design styles and rugs. We will be covering additional styles soon, so check back often and enjoy shopping all of our collections!
